My name is Sammy Lee and I am a 17 year old senior at Redmond High School. I’ve grown up in the church since I was born, but church was never a personal thing for me. It was a routine my family did every Sunday with no personal connection to God. I used to focus a lot on other things, like what people thought of me, my friends, or stress from school. I never saw how Jesus fit into my life. 

Everything changed when I started coming to this church in August 2024. The community here moved me in a way I didn’t expect. I see God moving through the people closest to me whether it’s seeing my parents or adults serve others with patience and love even when they’re tired or seeing a friend stay strong in their faith during a difficult time instead of giving up. I watch my parents serve others with everything in them. Watching them showed me that God is real and moving in my life today. I’ve seen how their faith in God has shaped them into kind people, and it’s made me want others to see that same kindness in me. 

Over this past year, I’ve grown closer to my friends at church, and those friendships have helped me stay focused and grounded in my walk with God. I know I always have people I can go to for help to pray for me and hold each other accountable. I felt God with me during the most difficult parts of my senior year. I was confused about my future. I didn’t know what was happening with my life or where I was headed. But in those moments of uncertainty, I felt His presence. He gave me peace when I was feeling lost and guided me in the right direction.

Through Jesus, I am part of this church family. He is my friend and my guide so I believe Jesus died on the cross to pay for my sins. I believe in God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Baptism is my way of showing that I belong to Him. I give my life to Jesus today. My goal is to live as a faithful Christian every day. I want to hold myself to that standard and improve myself daily and I want to continue growing alongside my friends in this community. I trust Jesus to lead me in this next chapter of my life as I head to college in the fall. I commit to following Him and showing His kindness to others.
